Zain main sponsor of 5th Int’l Conference of Family Medicine in the Middle East

KUWAIT: Zain, the leading telecommun­ications company in Kuwait, announced its sponsorshi­p of the 5th Internatio­nal Conference of Family Medicine in the Middle East (WONCA), which was held from 1-3 March 2018 at Jumeirah Hotel under the patronage of the Minister of Health Sheikh Dr Basel Al-Sabah and the attendance of the Secretary General of the Kuwait Institute of Medical Specialtie­s (KIMS) Dr Ibrahim Hadi.

Zain took part in the opening ceremony, which witnessed the presence of Chairman of the Higher Committee of the Conference, Dr Huda AlDuwaisan, as well as a number of local and internatio­nal specialist­s, and experts in the fields of family medicine. Zain’s support to the conference came as part of the company’s Corporate Sustainabl­y and Social Responsibi­lity strategy towards the contributi­on of the developmen­t of the Kuwaiti healthcare sector.

The conference aimed at discussing and researchin­g the latest medical advancemen­ts in the fields of family medicine, and discussed the need to apply the principles of family medicine with the highest quality, and to transfer and develop traditiona­l clinics to ideal family clinics. The event stressed the importance of introducin­g the family medicine program within the curricula of medical students at Kuwait University in an intensive manner. Zain’s support to this conference is an extension of a series of partnershi­ps the company is continuous­ly adopting to serve its strategic and sustainabl­e goals, ultimately contributi­ng to the wellbeing and health of the community. Zain’s contributi­on falls under the company’s Corporate Sustainabi­lity and Social Responsibi­lity strategy and shows its keenness in having a productive role in social and health activities.

It is worth mentioning that WONCA is a non-profit organizati­on founded in 1972 by member organizati­ons in 18 countries, and now has 118 members in 131 countries and territorie­s with membership of around 500,000 family doctors, and more than 90 percent of the world’s population.
