AUB announces sponsorship of T20 cricket trophy 2018

KUWAIT: Ahli United Bank has announced its sponsorship for the AUB Cricket Trophy organized by the Kuwait Cricket Association. All Kuwaiti banks will participate and compete for the trophy, which will be played out over several weeks. The opening ceremony was held on March 10, at the Cricket Ground in Doha in the presence of Mahmoud Bastaki, Chairman of Kuwait Cricket Association. Richard Groves, Chief Executive Officer Ahli United Bank, was present, along with his wife, Helen, Tareq Muhmood, Senior Deputy CEO, and other senior Bank executives.

Groves, told the press that Ahli United Bank has long displayed a deep interest in sports activities, particularly cricket, and the Bank’s cricket team has had a successful record over the years of both participating in, and winning, various inter-bank trophies.

Groves added: “Ahli United Bank is very keen to encourage sports amongst staff whether football, cricket, bowling and other activities. Equally we are keen to support and sponsor external activities as this engenders the spirit of cooperation and healthy competition. This will also help individuals develop their skills and enable them to raise the standard, both locally and internationally. He paid tribute to the Kuwait Cricket Association for organizing such cricket trophy competitions and praised the management for creating a very attractive ground in Doha for both players and spectators.

Tareq Mahmood said that Ahli United Bank is proud of its cricket team which has always been a strong competitor thanks to its committed players, in addition to the support and encouragement the team receives from the Bank’s management. Anuj Chadha, captain of Ahli United Bank Cricket team thanked AUB’s senior management for the all the support and encouragement they give to the Bank’s Cricket team to help them to achieve the success. He also paid tribute to the Kuwait Cricket Association for their support in organizing all cricket tournaments throughout the season.
