Healthcare key cornerstone of broad development
KUWAIT: Kuwait is eager to improve its medical services given the fact that healthcare is an integral component of sustainable development, the country’s health minister said yesterday. Speaking on behalf of Sheikh Dr Basel Al-Sabah during a conference on physical medicine and rehabilitation, the director of the Al-Sabah medical area Dr Afrah Al-Sarraf said that the Kuwaiti health ministry plans to infuse some international expertise into the healthcare system through hosting wellrenowned physicians from across the world. She expected the two-day meeting to yield concrete plans that will be instrumental in taking Kuwait’s healthcare system to new levels, saying that physical medicine has become an increasingly significant part of healthcare.
Meanwhile, Dr Salem Al-Kandari, the head of the conference, encouraged participative doctors to share their knowhow with one another in an event that will highlight just how far natural remedies have come. On the physical medicine industry, Kandari pointed out that it has made an impact on the health and wellness scene, as people continue to turn to natural remedies to fight a wide array of physical and psychological ailments.
Kandari also stressed that a solid healthcare system should be backed by sound research, revealing that the conference features 33 lectures and four workshops involving physicians from Kuwait, Canada, France and Turkey, among others. —KUNA
