Gulf Bank witnesses first group of interns for 2018

-

KUWAIT: Building on its commitment to supporting Kuwait’s youth, Gulf Bank recently launched its re-vamped internship program, and witnessed the graduation of its first group. The program has been designed for Kuwaiti students who are in their 2nd to 4th year of colleges and universities, to raise their practical understanding of the banking industry and the working atmosphere within the financial institutions.

The students, who participated in the inaugural one-month training program, were from the American University of the Middle East and the American College of the Middle East. Throughout the program, students were granted the opportunity to work across the different branches of the bank, as well as the different divisions within Gulf Bank’s head office.

Highlighting the objectives of the program Salma Al-Hajjaj, General Manager for Human Resources at Gulf Bank said: “We believe that college and university students, have all the right to decide on the career path they want to take postgraduation, and that the only way to achieve this is to go through internship programs, designed to present them with a realistic idea of what it means to work for a bank, away from the pure theoretical understanding. Gulf Bank’s new internship program allows students to experience the operations of a bank, its different divisions and the various responsibilities that could be undertaken, based on their backgrounds and their own preferences as well”

“As a leader in our sector, we have a responsibility towards young Kuwaitis who want to pursue a career in the banking industry, and we have always been keen on providing them with the needed trainings as well as guidance and supervision required. We wish the students a bright career and future ahead, and we look forward to welcoming more groups of enthusiastic students to join our internship program” added Hajjaj

The Bank has successfully implemented several initiatives over the past years, such as executive training programs and its long-term sponsorship of INJAZ Kuwait offering professional skills and entrepreneurial training for middle school, high school and university students. The Bank is also particularly proud of the popularity and effectiveness of its internal AJYAL Development Program which nurtures young Kuwaiti employees early in the careers, aiming to develop them into ‘holistic bankers’ and prepare them for leadership positions at Gulf Bank and in our country.
