ACK and Schlumberger Company inaugurate Schlumberger Laboratory
The Australian College of Kuwait (ACK) and Schlumberger Company inaugurated the “Schlumberger Laboratory” at ACK campus. Schlumberger Company is the largest Oilfield Services company in the world. The partnership established with Schlumberger is a milestone in the story of the Petroleum Engineering Department of ACK, and will propel the digital platform for Petroleum Engineering to match the current standards of the oil industry in terms of reservoir simulation, geo-modeling, subsurface studies and analysis for oil and gas reservoirs. The laboratory consists of several computers acquired by ACK, capable of carrying out multiple operations at high speed with the visualization and graphic capacity needed to run the advanced suite of different software, which were donated by Schlumberger and are equivalent to 12 million dollars.
ACK “Schlumberger Laboratory” will enable Petroleum Engineering students at ACK to receive training on the most advanced technologies of the oil sector, thus facilitating their readiness and employability into the productive sector of the local, regional, and world oil industry. Likewise, this new laboratory will provide an expanded platform for research to ACK faculty, expanding the opportunities for digital modeling, analysis, utilization of synthetic and real data, for studies and research. Additionally, the laboratory could be used by Schlumberger to provide training courses to local companies, creating further opportunities of expanding in the liaisons of ACK with the private sector in the State of Kuwait
