GUST awards scholarship to 15 outstanding students
Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) announced yesterday the names of the 15 outstanding students awarded the Annual Summer Scholarship by the university. This scholarship aims to enrich the students’ academic journey.
GUST Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Raghad Al Kazemi, said, “Our role as an institute of higher education is to provide our students with every opportunity to challenge themselves, and help them to excel at combating those challenges. The University of Missouri - St. Louis and George Washington University are both excellent backdrops for our students to see what it’s like to attend a different university, be self-sufficient, and experience life from a completely different perspective.”
Also commenting on the occasion, Amani Gaber, Acting Director, Academic and International Affairs, said: “Our university believes in bringing out the best in everyone, and we always have an eye out for those with a record of excellence and ambition. The aim of the scholarship is to allow those with a thirst to expand their comfort zones to further enrich their academic experience with university life in a different setting. I am extremely proud of those who have been selected, and I am certain that they will find the experience fulfilling and rewarding.”
In order to qualify for the scholarship, applicants must have completed 60 credit hours, be a full-time student enrolled at GUST, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and attain a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based); 230 (computer-based); or 79-80 (internet-based). In addition to this scholarship, GUST also offers the ‘Mission Scholarship’ whereby Kuwaiti GUST graduates can go on to earn their Master’s and PhD’s in the United States.
