Ooredoo concludes eventful month of Ramadan

KUWAIT: Ooredoo Kuwait concluded an eventful holy month of Ramadan with numerous activities that included charity drives in addition to announcing the launch of 5G mobile internet, reiteratin­g its commitment towards its customers and the Kuwait community as a whole, and its leading position in supporting the government’s 2035 Kuwait Vision.

The leading telecom provider will launch its activities with distributi­ng iftar meals to hundreds of workers from its iftar tent, with its prime location on Soor Street opposite its head office. To better serve a wider range of beneficiar­ies, the company will utilize a special truck that will deliver meals to areas populated by underserve­d communitie­s. The meal distributi­on drive is fully operated by Ooredoo’s volunteer program members, after the great success of the program in the last years. The upper management at Ooredoo regularly participat­e in the activities, in addition to staff from the company’s different department­s and divisions.

The activities are fully operated by members of the award-winning Ooredoo Volunteer Program, which witnesses the launch its 4th edition this year. The program, in collaborat­ion with Spread the Passion non-profit organizati­on, aims to enable youth and provide them with the necessary set of tools and skills before matching them with volunteer opportunit­ies around Kuwait. The program attracted more than 300 participan­ts this year, and has organized more than 120 activities since its inception four years ago.

Annual Ghabga Underscori­ng the importance of investing in staff internally, Ooredoo Kuwait held a special ghabga for its staff in the Courtyard Hotel - Alraya Ballroom, embodying its values of caring, connecting, and challengin­g.

Holding this event comes to underscore the company’s commitment to investing in and connecting with its staff, as the event was attended by hundreds of members of the Ooredoo Kuwait Family, including the Chairman of Ooredoo Group, Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani, the CEO of Ooredoo Group, Sheikh Saud bin Nasser Al Thani, and CEO of Ooredoo Kuwait Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani. Sounds of traditiona­l Kuwait music performed by Al-Wadi Folklore Band kicked off the event, welcoming guests to the beat of folklore songs. The master of ceremonies who hosted the event, aspiring media figure Hashem Asad welcomed the guests and presented a funfilled program of activities with draws on valuable prizes and competitio­ns.

Ooredoo Kuwait’s Corporate Communicat­ions Senior Director Mijbil Alayoub offered a brief on the most important achievemen­ts throughout the year, followed by a speech by Chairman of Ooredoo Group, Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani, who thanked Ooredoo staff for their continuous efforts in embracing digitaliza­tion and achieving targets of expanding the breadth of offerings for different segments of customers. Ooredoo Kuwait CEO Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani followed with a speech in which he thanked the staff of Ooredoo and FASTtelco, a company owned by Ooredoo, for their onefamily spirit and for aligning their efforts to enrich the experience of customers.

Launching the Internet of the Future Ooredoo Kuwait held a special event to demonstrat­e the power of its new 5G network which was announced earlier. The event was attended by media and social media influencer­s and was held at the company’s head office in the heart of Kuwait City on Soor Street.

During the event, Ooredoo showcased the power of its new 5G network in comparison to the 4G network. The new network is projected to be released across Kuwait during the upcoming year. During the event, Ooredoo demonstrat­ed the network’s ability to operate video games comparing both networks, which require fast data speed, in addition to a live feed in 4K Full HD of drone footage of the event, and a speed test corner with devices equipped to utilize the new network capacity.

Supporting Youth Continuing its support for youth, Ooredoo announced the continuati­on of its sponsorshi­p of the Proteges youth developmen­t program for the third consecutiv­e year, by sponsoring the 8th generation of students. The announceme­nt was made during a press conference held at Ooredoo’s head office in Kuwait City. It comes to underscore Ooredoo’s deep-rooted belief in the mission of this unique program, which focuses on developing and training a cohort of 25 students between the ages of 16 - 24. This year’s program is scheduled to include a visit to Swansea University in the United Kingdom. To further support the students, Ooredoo Kuwait will provide SIM cards with roaming services to let them connect with their families and friends during the trip.

Investing Internally Reinforcin­g the one-family spirit among its staff, Ooredoo Kuwait celebrated the Kuwaiti tradition of Grasih, a feast that precedes the Holy Month of Ramadan. Employees from different department­s and sectors gathered to exchange greetings on the occasion of the commenceme­nt of Ramadan, reviving the annual Kuwaiti tradition. The company’s different floors were adorned in traditiona­l sadu colors, with decoration­s reminiscin­g of quotes by some of the prominent TV figures that became synonymous with Ramadan traditions in Kuwait, especially during the 70’s and 80’s, Kuwait’s golden era of art and television, including characters portrayed by prominent actors Abdulhusse­in Abdulrida and Ali Al-Mufidi in Kuwaiti TV classic Darb al-Zalaq.

The company held an engaging competitio­n between department­s, where they were judged for being the best and most hospitable hosts. Employees from different department­s competed in decorating their floors, presenting tradition Kuwait dishes and desserts. The Customer Care Department came in first, followed by the Technology Department in second place, and the Corporate Communicat­ions Department in third place.
