Swamy becomes IAA Chairman, World President
BUCHAREST: At the World Board Meeting of the International Advertising Association, Felix Tataru handed over the baton of the Chairman and World President to Srinivasan Swamy, Chairman RK Swamy Hansa Group, India. Joel Nettey from Ghana was elected Senior Vice President. Beatrice Cox-Riesenelder from Austria was elected as General Secretary and Venanzio Camarra from Italy was re-elected as Treasurer. Felix Tataru will be Chairman, President’s Council, a new body involves the former World Presidents of IAA.
Swamy has headed many large industry associations in India and in the Asian region with distinction. These include the Advertising Agencies Association of India, the India Chapter IAA, The Advertising Standards Council of India and the Confederation of Asian Advertising Agency Associations to mention a few. Speaking after the election, Swamy outlined his plans for the two years ahead. “Education, membership and a concerted effort to revitalize existing chapters and start new chapters would be pursued with passion and determination. We will provide the thought leadership and action the marketing and communications industry needs to project itself as meaningful and useful. The IAA should be readily recognized as the global compass of the marcom industry,” he said.
Tataru, the Immediate Past President and the Chairman of President’s Council said, “We had two great two years together: Repositioning IAA as The Global Compass of Marketing Communications, creating the new brand identity, the new www.iaaglobal.org, new management team in New York, and the 80th anniversary celebrations required a lot of courage and team spirit. Thank you Srinivasan Swamy, our Senior Vice President during the last two years, for contributing to these great achievements. I trust that under your leadership IAA will continue the transformation we started together and I will actively support you in my new capacity.”
The IAA Board meeting was held in Bucharest on Oct 4, just after the IAA Global Conference on Oct 2 and 3.
