Alghanim Automotive launches new vehicles at ‘Discover America’ event
KUWAIT: Three new Chevrolet vehicles were unveiled yesterday at the Chevy showroom in Al-Rai during the US Embassy’s Discover America event showcasing US brands and services. The new 2019 Chevy Tahoe RST, the 2019 Corvette ZR1 and the 2018 Chevy Silverado Special Ops Edition were launched yesterday before the local media and other attendees.
Speaking at the launch, US Ambassador to Kuwait Lawrence Silverman said the event comes in the middle of the two-week-long Discover America program. “Last week and this week, we participated in 25 different events highlighting American food, restaurants, sport, film, education, tourism, business, automobiles and music. More than two dozen restaurants and retail stores are offering special promotions on American products as well,” he said.

Today our focus is on America’s love of cars, Kuwait’s love of cars, and Kuwait’s love of American cars. This event celebrates the longstanding partnership between General Motors and Yusuf A Alghanim & Sons Automotive,” Silverman said.
Alghanim Automotive started in 1932 and was the first General Motors distributor appointed in the Gulf region almost 70 years ago. One of the major steps in Alghanim Automotive’s growth was the association with General Motors to introduce American-made vehicles in Kuwait, and today it is one of the largest GM dealerships in the world. “It is a great example of what happens when American and Kuwaiti companies combine their resources and expertise to form a winning partnership. This partnership continues as strong as ever and I am happy to see so many Chevrolet vehicles on Kuwait’s roads. I am excited to see these new Chevy vehicles. The Chevy Tahoe RST, or Rally Sport Truck, has 420 horsepower, more than any earlier edition,” he added. “The new Corvette ZR1 was built with one thing in mind - performance,” he added.
