Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital boosts Kuwait’s total bed capacity to 160,000
Largest in the Middle East and sixth largest in the world
KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah attended and patronized yesterday the opening of Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital. His Highness the Amir was received at the venue of the celebration by Minister of Health Sheikh Dr Basel Humoud Al-Sabah and senior officials at the Ministry of Health.
The ceremony was attended by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Speaker of the National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanem, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and senior officials of the state. After speeches by the Health Minister and other ministry officials, a documentary depicting the different stages of construction was screened for the attendees. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf AlAhmad received presents during the ceremony.
Considered the largest in the Middle East and the sixth largest in the world, the Sheikh Jaber AlAhmad Hospital was built on an overall area of 725,000 square meters, and includes a bed capacity of 1,168 with 36 operation rooms, a medical center, a helipad, and a parking lot accommodating some 5,000 vehicles. The hospital, which starts receiving citizens next week, adds to the total bed capacity of medical facilities in Kuwait to reach over 160,000. The government considers the hospital’s inauguration a major achievement under the ‘New Kuwait’ vision for 2035 in terms of providing quality health care to Kuwaiti citizens. — KUNA
