Salmiya Parish Youth (SPY) Kuwait organized their annual Domestic Helpers Day on November 30, 2018. Youth members organized a fun-filled picnic for 100 maids and drivers at a chalet in Kabd. Joyallukas Jewelry were the main sponsors for the event. This has been the 7th consecutive year that SPY has undertaken this initiative. Joyallukas has always believed that the people and community within which it operates are the cornerstones for its success. It has consistently undertaken various programs to help and encourage causes that benefit the society.
Kiran Clement, member of the youth group said, “Our main goal is to spread joy and happiness amongst these hard working individuals who work 24x7 with almost no appreciation. It was a day well spent with the domestic workers who don’t see their own family very often. I am very thankful to all those who helped make this event a success and would urge more people to be a part or contribute towards such causes.”
SPY members organized many games and activities and served all the guests with food and snacks throughout the day. The event ended with prizes distributed to the winning team who played all the games with great enthusiasm. Gift hampers were then handed out to all the maids and drivers. The catering was undertaken by White Rose Restaurant and snacks were sponsored by Family Bakers. Many well wishers from Salmiya Church and the Open Gate Community also contributed towards making this a successful event.
