Training program to promote media’s role in Kuwaiti society
KUWAIT: KUNA’s Deputy Director-General for the Editorial Sector and Editor-in-Chief Saad Al-Ali stressed the importance of the media’s role in guiding the society, promoting the development process in the country, and boosting constructive dialogue among young people. Ali’s statement came during the launching of KUNA’s sixth internship program to train 23 university students to develop their journalistic skills. The program will last until September 5th. The program encourages practical application of journalism and media, Ali added. It also aims to break the student’s psychological barrier, encouraging them to join the labor market after graduation, he said.
Meanwhile, KUNA’s Deputy Editor-inChief for Economic Affairs Hanan Al-Qaisi said that the training programs organized by the agency are part of the state’s development plan to invest in youth. Qaisi, who is also the general coordinator of the internship program, said that traditional media outlets are currently facing many challenges, including the speed of communication and dissemination of information through the means of social media that swept the world. The trainees will learn during the program the basics of writing news stories and journalism, she added. This is the sixth consecutive program organized by KUNA for university students during summer.
