Kuwait Airport’s new Terminal 2 36% complete

KUWAIT: The ministeria­l committee for public services announced yesterday that completion ratio of the new Terminal 2 project at Kuwait Internatio­nal Airport has currently reached 36 percent. According to the project’s timeframe, T2 is due for an overall completion and full operation by 2023, the committee said in a press statement following its inspection visit to the project site to check with latest updates and developmen­ts regarding its workflow. So far, the project’s expenses have amounted to 21.3 percent, while delay in completion remains little and has not pass 0.3 percent, it said. It affirmed the government’s keenness to move on with implementi­ng this new grand monument entirely, including phases 1, 2, and 3, in addition to operating it on its due date, and overcoming all obstacles that could hinder its achievemen­t. It is important that all state bodies in the country cooperate jointly to complete T2 and other developmen­t projects on time, it noted, affirming keenness to attain His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s vision to transform Kuwait into financial and economic hub.

The committee also stressed the importance of meeting all requiremen­ts to implement T2, pointing out His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah’s directions and keen interest to keep an eye on all developmen­t projects in the country. Furthermor­e, the statement quoted the ministers’ affirmatio­n in constantly following T2’s workflow phases, holding intensifie­d meetings with state bodies’ representa­tives in this regard, and conducting inspection visits to the project site to be closely acquainted with it. The ministers also commended the great efforts exerted by the project’s main sponsors, particular­ly the Ministry of Public Works and the Directorat­e General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), said the committee.

DGCA’s Chairman Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said meanwhile that T2 would be a substantia­l addition to Kuwait Internatio­nal Airport and a quantum leap in the air-transport field in the country. T2 is backed directly by His Highness the Premier as one of the vital projects in Kuwait, Sheikh Salman added, noting it is part of the government’s main developmen­t schemes with a capacity to accommodat­e some 25 million passengers yearly. The project’s building has a unique design in its exterior and interior parts, Sheikh Salman noted, adding DGCA would convey T4’s success to the new passenger terminal in a record time. He also lauded Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled AlRoudhan’s efforts, along with other ministers, at the ministeria­l committee for public services in making the new passenger terminal a top priority thru their constant attention and follow up. Furthermor­e, the DGCA chief commended the great efforts exerted by the staff of public works ministry, notably Minister Dr Jenan Boushehri, noting their endeavor had an apparent impact on the project’s workflow and completion progress.
