Pharmacy integral part of health system: Kuwaiti pharmacist
ABU DHABI: Kuwaiti Pharmacist Moudhi Al-Shuwaihan said yesterday that pharmacy as a profession vital in tackling the appropriate treatment and care for patients, stressing that such profession is an integral part of the integrated health system. Shuwaihan’s statement came in a speech during the Kuwaiti Pharmaceutical Society remarks at the 79th International Conference for Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, which kicked off at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.
Shuwaihan highlighted Kuwait’s interest in the profession of pharmacy and related sciences in order to achieve greater pharmaceutical service and contribute to the development of health care for the community. She said that the pharmacy profession in Kuwait recently attracted many graduate students, noting that the number of its associates in the period from 2001 to 2010 reached 653 pharmacists, while the number doubled from 2011 to 2019 to 1,266 pharmacists. Founded in 1974, the Kuwaiti Pharmacy Association aimed at raising the awareness to the profession that combines medical practice with scientific discoveries in order to reach advanced medical highlevel standards.
The Kuwaiti delegation to the conference includes Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society Walid AlShammari, representatives of Kuwait University and the management of medical warehouses at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health, in addition to a group of Kuwaiti pharmacists. The conference, organized by the International Pharmacists Union and the Emirates Pharmacy Association, will include interactive sessions, panel discussions and workshops highlighting the latest concepts, news and trends in the field of pharmacy and healthcare globally.
