Spanish Embassy hosts national day reception

-

KUWAIT: Guillermo Robollo Diez, Deputy Chief of Mission of Spain in Kuwait, hosted a reception on the occasion of his country’s national day at Symphony Hotel over the weekend. Senior officials, including Kuwait’s Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah, diplomats and media persons attended the ceremony.

During the event, Diez delivered a speech in which he welcomed guests who joined the Spanish Embassy’s staff in celebrating Spain’s National Day. “As the current charge d’affaires and interim of the Spanish Embassy, I am very proud to host this reception, which might be a simple one, but at the same time, it has a deep sense and importance for the Spanish people. The 12th October anniversary embodies all the historic events which took place centuries ago, at a time Spain was born as a modern state and its language and its culture began to spread beyond its borders.”

“Consequently, we are very pleased and proud for counting, from now on, with a full-fledged delegation of the European Union with which we hope to work very closely,” he said. “Moreover, Spain will keep committed to foster, as it has always done, the strengthening and consolidation of the relations between the EU and Kuwait.”

Spain and Kuwait are connected by strong human, economic and cultural bonds, said the Spanish diplomat. “Both countries share and defend common values and principles in the international community in order to grant security and peace for all nations,” Diez said. “As an example of these close ties, let me remind you that Spain and Kuwait held political consultations last October 7th with the attendance in Madrid of the Assistant Minister for Europe Ambassador Walid Alkhobeizi, with very positive results. On the top of this close relation I would like also to highlight the personal friendship between our two Royal Families, between His Majesty King Felipe VI and the previous King, His Majesty King D Juan Carlos, with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad AlJaber Al-Sabah. We wish to all of them good health and wisdom in their high responsibilities.”

“Like 500 years ago, Spain, currently a full democracy with a strong rule of law and a proud member State of the European Union, is prepared to face the challenges of our times,” Diez stressed. “Kuwait, as well as the rest our allies and friends, can always count on us in the search of the common good.”
