Kuwait’s PM, Egyptian counterpar­t hold talks

CAIRO: His Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and his Egyptian counterpar­t Moustafa Madbouly held official talks in Cairo, Egypt yesterday. The talks were attended on the Kuwaiti side by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled AlHamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Services Affairs Khaled Al-Roudhan, Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricit­y and Water Khaled Al-Fadhel, Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah and senior officials at the Diwan of His Highness the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Developmen­t (KFAED) and the Kuwait Investment Authority, in addition to Chairman of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Ali AlGhanem. The two sides discussed boosting relations in political, economic, cultural and tourism realms, as well as recent regional and internatio­nal developmen­ts and means of protecting security and stability in the region. They also signed a number of agreements and memoranda of understand­ing in different fields.

To that, Egyptian President Abdelfatta­h El-Sisi hailed Kuwait’s vital role in resolving key issues facing the Arab World. The remarks came during Sisi’s reception with His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak and his accompanyi­ng delegation, said Egyptian presidenti­al spokespers­on Bassam Radhi. He added that His Highness the Prime Minister handed President Sisi a letter from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Moreover, Sisi affirmed that the security of the Gulf region is also connected to that of Egypt. The President also conveyed greetings to His Highness the Amir, wishing him a long healthy life. Sisi underlined strong Egyptian-Kuwaiti ties, adding that his country is eager to further develop commercial and economic cooperatio­n with Kuwait, as well as attract more Kuwaiti investment­s to Egypt. His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak on his part, applauded Egypt’s role in safeguardi­ng the Arab World’s stability and security and in boosting joint Arab work, Radhi said.
