Jordan’s King lauds Kuwait’s humanitari­an services globally

AMMAN: Jordan’s King Abdullah II underlined the importance of Kuwait’s pioneering role in providing humanitari­an services on both regional and internatio­nal levels. This came when the Jordanian King received on Sunday the Chairman of Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Dr Hilal Al-Sayer at Al-Husayniya royal palace, Jordan’s royal court said in a statement. King Abdullah II expressed his appreciati­on to Kuwait’s role under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah in supporting Jordan at different conditions, it noted. The Jordanian leader stressed the deep-rooted relations between the two countries, and keenness on boosting them in all domains, the statement quoted the King as saying. Meanwhile, Sayer voiced appreciati­on to Jordan’s key role under the leadership of King Abdullah II in hosting refugees and providing care and services to them, according to the statement. During the meeting, the two sides also reviewed the KRCS’ activities in Jordan, mainly serving refugees, it said. They also touched upon the Syrian refugees’ crisis and stressed that the internatio­nal community should assume its responsibi­lities towards the countries hosting refugees so as to continue providing relief and humanitari­an aid, it pointed out. Earlier in the day, the society’s delegation led by Sayer opened a clinic to treat the Syrian refugees in Jordan, in cooperatio­n with the Jordan Red Crescent Society. It signed a $250,000 grant agreement with the King Hussein Cancer Center to cover the cost of the Syrian refugees. The grant is provided by Kuwait Finance House.
