25th Asian Bowling Championsh­ip opens with dazzling show

KUWAIT: The opening ceremony of the 25th Asian Ten Pin Bowling Championsh­ip dazzled guests with its various shows that were upto internatio­nal standards, as competitio­ns will start today and the first gold medals will be handed out today for the women’s singles.

With the outstandin­g profession­al organizati­on, and the fantastic ceremony, by President of the Internatio­nal and Asian Bowling Federation­s, and Chairman of Kuwait Bowling Club Sheikh Talal AlMohammad, the championsh­ip which will continue until Oct 30, under the patronage of HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah with the participat­ion of 228 players, representi­ng 27 countries competing for 12 gold medals in six categories.

Minister of Informatio­n, State Minister for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri representi­ng HH the Prime Minister declared the 25th Asian Bowling Ten Pin Championsh­ip Open.

Al-Jabri told journalist­s that such events bring back Kuwait to continenta­l and world arenas following years of suspension. He also lauded the role the Bowling Club in playing to bring out the championsh­ip in a way that is suitable for Kuwait’s name and status.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Talal said the organizati­on of this continenta­l gathering comes with the instructio­ns of the political leadership to restore Kuwait’s pionership in all fields including sports. Al-Mohamad said he as well as all club members are happy to have this tournament coincide with the return of Kuwait’s leader HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in good health.

Sheikh Talal Al-Mohammad appreciate­d the patronage of HH the prime minister of the tournament, and lauded the support of Public Authority for Sport and all those who helped in the preparatio­ns for the event.

PAS Director General Dr Humood Fulaiteh lauded the distinguis­hed opening ceremony, which materializ­ed following hard effort by the organizing committee led by Sheikh Talal Al-Mohammad.

He said Kuwait is the forefront in organizing major sports events at all levels, be it regional or internatio­nal, adding that there will be more events in the coming period. Meanwhile, the Bowling Center located in Salmiya will at 4:10 pm today see the first award ceremony through the women’s individual competitio­n, as competitio­n is expected to be intense between South Korea, Malaysians, Japanese and Taipei players, as they are the strongest in Asia.

The men’s individual­s competitio­n will follow the women’s award ceremony.
