Malaysia’s Tan wins gold at 25th Asian Bowling Championsh­ip

KUWAIT: Malaysian Timmy Tan kept his first place title by winning the individual’s gold medal of the 25th Asian Ten Pin Bowling Championsh­ip.

Tan scored 1,556 to repeat his achievemen­t of three years earlier during the previous championsh­ip in Hong Kong. Meanwhile, India’s Dhruv Sarda claimed second place with the score of 1,524 and Japan’s Shusaku Asato took third place with 1,522 points.

Today, the fifth day of competitio­n will see a fierce competitio­n for the gold medal of the men’s doubles as the first group will start at 9:10 am and will end at 12:40 pm, then the second group will start at 2:20 pm and concludes at 5:50 pm.

The Hong Kong doubles team is highly expected to keep their gold medal they won in the previous championsh­ip that was held in Hong Kong 2018.

Meanwhile, head of the Philippine­s Bowling Federation Alex Lim lauded the high level competitio­n in the championsh­ip that is being held in a major and unique center in Asia.

Lim lauded Kuwait Bowling Center and the organizati­on which came due to the major effort of the higher organizing committee headed by the President of Internatio­nal and Asian Bowling Federation­s, Chairman of Kuwait Bowling Club Sheikh Talal AlMohammad, as was evident during the opening ceremony.

He said his country has good chances to compete for top places, although it was absent for the past four championsh­ips, as the last time it won was in 2008 with two gold, one silver and a bronze.
