Amir congratulates new Audit Bureau chief
KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah yesterday addressed a congratulatory cable to Faisal Al-Shaya on his new position as the Chairman of the State Audit Bureau. His Highness wished Shaya all the best of luck to serve his country. In addition, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah sent similar cables to Shaya.
National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem had announced declared earlier yesterday the parliament’s approval of nominating Shaya as Chair of the State Audit Bureau. The parliament speaker said the MPs’ approval of the nomination came during the assembly’s closed-door session. Earlier, he said Article 34 of the Audi Bureau establishment 30/1964 stipulates, “The head of the Audit Bureau is appointed by an Amiri Decree on the basis of nomination by the National Assembly and its endorsement of this candidacy in an incamera session.”
Meanwhile, His Highness the Amir addressed a cable of congratulations to MP Nayef Al-Merdas on his election uncontested as supervisor of the National Assembly. His Highness the Amir wished MP Merdas success in serving the dear homeland. His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness the Prime Minister addressed similar cables to MP Merdas.
In other news, the National Assembly yesterday approved appointment of members of several committees for the fourth ordinary session of the 15th legislative term, in accordance Article 93 of the National Constitution. The parliament elected MPs Dr Khalil Abdullah, Osama Al-Shaheen, Dr Ouda AlRouwiei,
Safa Al-Hashem and Omar AlTabtabaei as members of the Committee tasked with drafting the reply to the Amiri Speech. It elected MPs Mubarak Al-Hajraf, Nayef Al-Merdas, Saad AlKhanfour, Saud Showaier and Khaled Al-Otaibi as members of the Committee for Public Petitions and Grievances. Kuwait’s Parliament named MPs Saud Showaier, Faraj Al-Arbeed, Abdullah AlKandari, Saadoun Hammad and Askar Al-Enezi as members of the Committee for Internal Affairs and Defense. MPs named as members of the parliamentary health, social and labor affairs committee were Saadoun Hammad, Osama AlShaheen, Talal Al-Jalal, Dr Homoud AlKhudair and Dr Mohammad Al-Huwaila.
Article 93 of the constitution stipulates, “The Assembly shall establish during the first week of its annual meeting the committees necessary for its work.” It approved members of the Parliamentary Budgets and Final Accounts Committee. They are MPs Abdullah Al-Roumi, Adnan Abdulsamad, Safa Al-Hashem, Riad Al-Adsani, Mubarak Al-Harees, Shuaib Al-Muwaizri and Dr Adel Al-Damkhi. Moreover, the Kuwaiti parliament approved members of the parliamentary committee for financial and economic affairs for the fourth regular session of the 15th legislative term, in accordance with Article 93 of the constitution. The committee included MPs Saleh Ashour, Safa AlHashem, Dr Ouda Al-Rouwiei, Dr Bader Al-Mulla, Khalaf Dmaitheer, Dr Mohammad Al-Huwaila and Majed AlMutairi. It also named members of the public utilities committee, namely MPs Mohammad Al-Hadiya, Majid Al-Mutairi, Saad Al-Rashidi, Rakan Al-Nisf, Abdullah Fahhad and Hamdan Al-Azmi Al-Humaidi Al-Subaie. — KUNA
