Kuwaiti citizens’ repatriati­on 3rd phase kicks off today

KUWAIT: The third phase to evacuate stranded nationals from abroad begins today and will last for three days, Kuwait’s Directorat­e-General for Civil Aviation (DGCA) Chairman Sheikh Salman Humoud Al-Sabah said on Saturday. In a press statement, Sheikh Salman said that the third phase will include 35 flights from the airports of London, Gatwick Airport, Manchester, Glasgow, Dublin, New York, Moscow, Armenia, Kiev and Hail, and is expected to transport 8,190 citizens. The second phase included the following destinatio­ns: Amman, Casablanca, Nouakchott, Istanbul, Vienna, Alexandria, Cairo, New York, Brussels, London, Paris, Manila, Bangkok, Dakar, Tunis, Malta, Beirut, Tbilisi, Baku, Mumbai, Delhi, Sarajevo and Amsterdam. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsibl­e for providing all the needs and care for citizens in their areas of residence until they return to the homeland.

The second phase of repatriati­on flights for Kuwaiti nationals stranded overseas amid the coronaviru­s outbreak, including 57 flights, had concluded on Saturday. The three-day phase, which was carried out onboard domestic airlines Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways, targeted cities in Arab and global destinatio­ns. These included Amman, Beirut, Cairo, Alexandria, Casablanca, Tunis, Nouakchott, Dakar, Istanbul, Malta, Larnaca, Tbilisi, Baku, Sarajevo, Brussels, Amsterdam, Vienna, Paris, London, Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangkok, Manila, and New York. — KUNA
