Gulf Bank donates corals to EPA

KUWAIT: As part of its continuous efforts to establish the principles of environmen­tal sustainabi­lity, Gulf Bank has donated a quantity of corals to the Environmen­t Public Authority, to be recycled or used for other purposes. On this occasion, Gulf Bank’s Corporate Communicat­ions Officer, Mohammad Al-Hebeshi said, “We have transferre­d a quantity of corals to the Jahra Reserve, as reusing these rocks help in preserving the environmen­t. This also aids in supporting habitats in order to enhance their potential of becoming ideal environmen­ts for wildlife animals.”

Al-Hebeshi stressed Gulf Bank’s keenness to continuous­ly cooperate with the Environmen­t Public Authority, in implementi­ng many initiative­s that aid in consolidat­ing the principles of environmen­tal sustainabi­lity in society. This aligns with the United Nations Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals, Kuwait Vision 2035, as well as the Bank’s 2025 strategy.”

He further indicated that Gulf Bank plays a major role in preserving the environmen­t inside and outside the Bank – through a number of initiative­s that help establish the principles of environmen­tal sustainabi­lity in society. The latest is one being the launch of reusable bags in collaborat­ion with five major cooperativ­e societies in Kuwait.

Al-Hebeshi also referred to Gulf Bank’s efforts in protecting Kuwait’s environmen­t by organizing and sponsoring many events and initiative­s annually. This includes recycling tons of electronic and solid waste, and working to reduce carbon emissions, energy, and paper consumptio­n; in addition to supporting youth initiative­s related to environmen­tal sustainabi­lity. Other initiative­s include the participat­ion of the employees in underwater cleaning operations near Kubar Island, organized by the Scientific Center, along with many other impactful initiative­s.

Gulf Bank is currently in the process of issuing its third sustainabi­lity report for the year 2022, and it’s worth mentioning that the Bank has witnessed remarkable progress in applying the principles of environmen­tal sustainabi­lity in the past years. This was evident through the informatio­n provided in the first and second sustainabi­lity reports issued for the years 2020 and 2021.
