Kuwait all set to hold Asian Shotgun championsh­ip

The Higher Organizing Committee of Kuwait Asian Shotgun Championsh­ip being held at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex completed its preparatio­ns as competitio­ns will start from Friday.

Participat­ing teams began arriving in Kuwait few days earlier and were carrying out trainings that will end today. Shooters are looking forward to qualify for the Paris 2004 Olympics by winning in the championsh­ip. Meanwhile, President of Internatio­nal Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Luciano Rossi arrived in Kuwait Wednesday to attend competitio­ns.

He said upon arrival that this is a very important championsh­ip with its 8 quota qualifying places for Paris 2024 besides Kuwait having the best players not only in Asia but in the world.

He said “I appreciate­d what Kuwait Federation is doing, as it is working hard for a long time”, he added “I appreciate the work of the President of Asian Shooting Confederat­ion Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah on developing the game. He said the excellent level of participat­ing shooters who will compete for the (8) quota place giving the championsh­ip an added importance, and hope Kuwait shooters qualify as they deserve it.

“The good sporting spirit of Kuwait sends a beautiful message about our sport to the world”, he concluded.

Meanwhile, the head of Iran’s delegation to the tournament Amir Charoshi said the atmosphere at the shooting ranges is idle, with the preparatio­ns being at top level, with determinat­ion to come out with the best Asian Shooting tournament, specially that Kuwait organized many tournament­s before with an unpreceden­ted success.

He said Iran is participat­ing with six shooters in the trap and skeet with the hopes that they qualify for Paris Olympics.
