Kuwait charity inaugurate­s residentia­l village in Yemen

ADEN: The Kuwait Internatio­nal Islamic Charity Organizati­on inaugurate­d the Al-Khair residentia­l village to shelter the displaced in the coastal directorat­e of the Red Sea in Taiz governorat­e in Yemen with funding from the volunteer team as part of the ‘Kuwait by Your Side’ campaign. Nasser Al-Bassam, the head of the delegation of the Kuwaiti volunteer team visiting Yemen, said in a statement to the Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA) that the residentia­l village project consists of 120 housing units, each of which includes two rooms, a kitchen, and a courtyard.

Each housing unit was provided with a solar system, a water tank, and a drainage network, in addition to shelter bags, bedding, and cooking tools. The residentia­l village will house over 120 families who were living in tents. They will be transferre­d to safe houses that protect them from cold, heat, wind, rain, and storms and provide them with a decent life.

Al-Bassam expressed thanks and appreciati­on to the people who contribute­d to this great humanitari­an charity project, and all those who donated assisted in arranging and equipping the project. He pointed to the laying of the foundation stone for the constructi­on of a mosque, a school, a health center, a bakery, and a water tank tower, in addition to shops.

For his part, the second deputy chairman of the Political Bureau of the National Resistance, Abdul-Jabbar Al-Zahzouh, expressed thanks and appreciati­on to Kuwait, HH the Amir, the government and the people, the voluntary compassion team, the Internatio­nal Islamic charity organizati­on, and the charity organizati­ons in Kuwait for their humanitari­an efforts. — KUNA
