Kuwait underscores cooperation and amplified efforts to overcome crises
Amir Representative participates in G77 Third South summit
Kuwait has underscored the importance of bolstering cooperation and amplifying joint efforts to overcome and respond to current and foreseeable crises. This came in Kuwait’s speech at the G77 and China Third South in the Ugandan capital of Kampala, relayed by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s representative, Ambassador Tariq Al-Bannai.
The Ambassador affirmed Kuwait’s support for joint international cooperation in curbing the expansion of poverty and fortifying the international food security organization. He also highlighted Kuwait’s role in alleviating the burden of loans, combating the ramifications of climate change and natural disasters, and addressing humanitarian suffering caused by conflicts and instability. Al-Bannai hailed the vital and active performance of the G77, and China affirmed the necessity of furthering such efforts.
On the Palestinian issue, Ambassador Al-Bannai indicated that a great responsibility falls on them to abide by international laws and stipulations, commending member states’ involvement in the deteriorating situation. He also urged member states to intensify efforts in support of Palestinian rights and aspirations.
Al-Bannai pointed out that the meeting is held amidst grueling conditions and complex hurdles that undermine the ability to achieve the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Ambassador relayed to the congregation the greetings of His Highness the Amir and extended his thanks to Uganda for hosting the summit and to Cuba for presiding over the last session.
The Representative of His Highness Amir headed Kuwait’s delegation at the G77 Third South Summit, which kicked off earlier Sunday in Uganda. The summit was chaired by the President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, with the participation of several leaders and heads of government of the member states of the Group of 77 and China.
The Kuwaiti delegation includes the Ambassador of Kuwait to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and non-resident of the Republic of Uganda, Nayef Al-Otaibi, in addition to the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Organization Affairs, Abdulaziz Al-Jarallah, and a number of senior ministry officials. — KUNA
