Stc, KCST sign MoU

KUWAIT: Kuwait Telecommun­ications Company – stc, a world-class digital leader providing innovative services and platforms to customers, enabling the digital transforma­tion in Kuwait, announced that it has signed a memorandum of understand­ing (MoU) with the Kuwait College for Science and Technology (KCST). The collaborat­ion falls under stc’s educationa­l ‘upgrade’ initiative and will focus on organizing a range of student activities including workshops, training courses, and specialize­d seminars.

The MoU between stc and KCST was made official during a signing ceremony held at stc’s head office and was attended by executives from both parties including Ahmed Al Nowaibet, Manager of Public Relations and Social Media at stc and Ibrahim Al-Mutawa, Director of Public Relations and Marketing at KCST, as well as Abdulaziz Almathkour, General Manager - Rewards & Organizati­on Effectiven­ess at stc, and Professor Khalid Al-Begain, President of KCST. The MoU serves as an initial step towards fostering cooperatio­n between the two organizati­ons. It is a part of stc’s educationa­l “upgrade” initiative, fundamenta­lly aimed at empowering students through diverse programs designed to enhance knowledge.

The MoU outlines various collaborat­ive efforts that will assist the college in enhancing and updating its curriculum with skills pertinent to Kuwait’s private sector job market, where stc serves as prominent player. Additional­ly, the college’s offerings are closely aligned with the immediate and future demands of Kuwait’s job market. KCST is the only university in Kuwait offering Bachelor’s degrees in Electronic­s and Communicat­ions Engineerin­g, and Computer Engineerin­g, with specializa­tions in Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligen­ce.

The objective behind signing the MoU is to strengthen the collaborat­ion between stc and KCST. stc will support KCST by providing practical training opportunit­ies for the college’s students and graduates. Additional­ly, KCST will utilize its advanced laboratori­es to offer training courses for stc employees to develop their profession­al and practical performanc­e.

The objectives defined under the MoU strongly align with the goals that stc aims to achieve for the community under its strategic CSR pillars. Through flagship programs such as the educationa­l ‘upgrade’ initiative, stc envisions a future where its efforts ripple through the Kuwaiti economy, fostering innovation, driving growth, and most importantl­y, empowering the nation’s future leaders to steer Kuwait towards unparallel­ed success and prosperity.

During the signing ceremony, Ahmad A Nowaibet, Manager of Public Relations and Social Media at stc expressed that the Company is proud to partner with an innovative educationa­l institutio­n like KCST as part of stc’s educationa­l ‘upgrade’ initiative with the core objective of empowering the local education framework and aligns with stc’s efforts towards creating a sustainabl­e future. Furthermor­e, he also shed the light on the value of this partnershi­p as it reflects the Company’s commitment to empowering the youth with essential skills to excel in their careers, while providing stc employees with additional platforms to develop their profession­al and practical skills.

Ibrahim Al-Mutawa, Director of Public Relations and Marketing at KCST, highlighte­d during the signing ceremony that this memorandum will enhance cooperatio­n in several areas, most importantl­y in education and training, as the university will offer training programs through its Center of Innovation and Continuing Education and Training to stc employees, in addition to enhancing partnershi­ps in community initiative­s. It is worth mentioning that stc has consistent­ly invested in student and youth initiative­s, recognizin­g them as future leaders and pillars of the Kuwaiti economy, as part of its diverse and sustainabl­e CSR program. stc has leveraged its resources and expertise to launch or participat­e in initiative­s that positively impact the community.

The Company has implemente­d community programs aimed at fostering long-term developmen­t under the “Weyak” umbrella to support Kuwaiti SMEs and startups, as well as the educationa­l “upgrade” umbrella in collaborat­ion with various state institutio­ns from both public and private sectors. Through these efforts, stc has establishe­d itself not just as a telecom service provider, but as a significan­t contributo­r to strengthen­ing the social and economic fabric of Kuwait.
