Central Department of Statistics, Agriculture Authority sign MoU
The Central Department of Statistics signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding with the Public Authority of Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources on the exchange of information and statistical data. The agreement was signed at the headquarters of the department by the director general, Wafa Al Yahya, and the director general of the agriculture authority, Nasser Taqi.
Al-Yahya told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the signing of the memorandum contributes to strengthening institutional cooperation, coordination, and data integration between the two sides and will provide more statistical data related to the agricultural sector and fisheries, which will help guide government policies and planning for economic development, which in turn leads to ensuring and improving food security.
She pointed out the administration’s constant pursuit to approve a sustainable executive mechanism that ensures the responsiveness of government agencies in providing statistics in accordance with clear standards and guidelines regarding the quality of data and information, enhancing their exchange, increasing cooperation in developing methodologies, simplifying statistical procedures, and reducing financial expenditures conducted on field surveys.
She stressed the Department’s commitment to enhance cooperation and coordination with all government agencies and the private sector in order to achieve its strategy (2022-2026) and the implementation of the strategic plan for Joint Gulf statistical work for the period between 2021 and 2025 to link with the authorities, the implementation of the Sustainable Development Plan 2035, and the activation of Law No. 27 of 1963 on statistics and census to enhance reference management.
For his part, Taqi said in a similar statement to KUNA that since its establishment in 1983, the Authority has been striving to develop the agricultural sector. He stressed the importance of cooperation between government agencies in exchanging data and information and supporting the statistics department, pointing out that this cooperation provides accurate and updated data on the agricultural sector and fisheries, which would analyze trends and provide opportunities to improve strategic planning and development of agriculture so as to enhance productivity.
