KFA launches community initiative
The Kuwait Festivals Association (KFA) launched the community sustainability initiative (Mumtann: Grateful) under the slogan “safe hand and a giving hand.” The program is aimed at promoting sustainable humanitarian initiatives, positive behavioral change towards the environment, and the formation of successful partnerships between various sectors of the country.
The chairman of the board of directors of the association, Dr. Tariq Al-Obaid, told the Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA) after meeting with the Director General of the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources, Engineer Nasser Taqi, that the authority launched the initiative in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the Environment Public Authority, and Kuwait Oil Company. This is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Plan 2030 and Kuwait Vision 2035.
Al-Obaid added that the initiative enhances the role of specialized NGOs in the community. This is
done through various means, including tourism, entertainment, cultural community programs, and qualitative initiatives. He stated that creativity and innovation are the keys to the success of the Sustainable Development Goals, while sustainable qualitative initiatives are the catalysts.
Al-Obaid pointed out that the (Mumtann) awareness and quality initiative focuses on providing a distinguished model for forming successful partnerships between governments, the private sector, and civil society based on common goals and visions and consolidating sustainability in society for development and environmental protection.
For his part, Taqi said that the initiative translates the principle of community partnership between various entities and is of particular importance in promoting awareness of environmental and positive behavior as it directs students and the educational sector on various ways to improve and preserve the environment. The initiative also added to the sustainable agricultural tourism initiative launched recently by the Festivals Association in cooperation with the Agriculture Authority to promote sustainable green initiatives in the community and provide a distinguished model for consolidating the principles of sustainability. — KUNA
