Obstetrics, gynecology conference kicks off
Health Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Foreign Services Hisham Kalendar (representing the Health Minister Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi) opened the 26th Kuwait Obstetrics and Gynecology Conference, organized by the OBGYN department of Jahra Hospital. Kalendar said the ministry is working on expanding the field of diagnostics and treatment in obstetrics and gynecology according to the most modern protocols so as to improve services and achieve advancements in the field of women’s health, in addition to increasing the number of maternity and children’s health clinics.
He pointed to the vital role of the obstetrics and gynecology departments in Kuwait, including the department in Jahra Hospital, which carried out 150 successful procedures using 3D technology. Meanwhile, the head of the gynecology and obstetrics department at Jahra Hospital and chairwoman of the conference, Dr. Hanan Al-Hussaini, said the conference is considered the largest scientific training venue in the field of women in the OBGYN field. The topics are in agreement with the ministry’s vision and its keenness to keep up with the latest world developments.
She said the conference sheds light on many topics, particularly those related to women’s medicine,
as it directs its focus on the latest scientific developments. She said the three-day conference will tackle important topics about encouraging scientific research and enhancing communications and knowledge exchange between doctors and researchers.
Experts will share their experience on vital topics about the future of OBGYN as well as infertility in women and men and the fetal future, in addition to the future of robot surgeries and AI in fetal ultrasound. She said there were 1,672 natural births and 828 emergency caesarean births carried out in 2023 at the Jahra OBGYN department. Dr. Hanan Al-Hussaini said the fertility diseases unit is proud of having the men fertility laboratory, which carries out advanced fertility procedures, including micro-TC operations.
