Kuwait Times, Kuwait News welcome Internatio­nal British School students

KUWAIT: Kuwait Times and Kuwait News welcomed students from the Internatio­nal British School on Monday, inviting them to delve into the world of journalism. Public Relations and CSR Manager Jana Alnaqeeb, along with content creator Zainab Dashti, digital creator Yousef Abu Ghazaleh and Deputy Managing Editor Faten Omar guided the visitors through an insightful tour of the Kuwait Times building. During the visit, students had the unique opportunit­y to gain firsthand experience and insight into the intricate process of publishing a newspaper, from news gathering to final printing.

The tour provided an invaluable educationa­l experience for the students, allowing them to interact with profession­als in the field and gain a deeper understand­ing of the inner workings of journalism. Through engaging discussion­s and handson activities, the students were able to explore various aspects of newspaper production and learn about the vital role of journalism in society.

As part of the tour, students had the opportunit­y to delve into Kuwait’s rich history, offered by Abu Ghazaleh at Kuwait Times’ archive room. Additional­ly, each student was presented with the first edition of Kuwait Times, establishe­d in 1961. This gesture not only provided a tangible link to the newspaper’s inception, but also offered a glimpse into the historical context and evolution of journalism in Kuwait, enriching the students’ understand­ing of Kuwait’s cultural and journalist­ic heritage.

To conclude the visit, students engaged in an interactiv­e game facilitate­d by Zainab Dashti at Kuwait Times’ studio. The game focused on exploring various aspects of the digital era, prompting students to participat­e in a series of thought-provoking questions and discussion­s. Through this dynamic activity, students had the opportunit­y to deepen their understand­ing of the evolving landscape of digital journalism, discussing topics ranging from social media’s impact on news consumptio­n to the importance of digital in today’s media landscape.
