Students from International British School (IBS) embarked on an educational excursion to Kuwait Times and Kuwait News on Tuesday, eager to delve into the realm of journalism and gain firsthand insight into the news industry. Throughout the tour, students had the opportunity to witness news-making at the Kuwait Times newsroom, studio and printing house. PR and CSR Manager Jana Alnaqeeb gave students a glimpse into the history of Kuwait Times, the first English-language daily in the Arabian Gulf, established in 1961.

Deputy Managing Editor Faten Omar highlighted the importance of journalism, revealing that journalists play a vital role in uncovering and reporting issues that affect the public while fostering an informed citizenry that is essential for a thriving democracy and a well-informed society.

Meanwhile, digital creator Yousef Abu Ghazaleh took students on a captivating journey through Kuwait’s history in the archive room of Kuwait Times. Drawing from the extensive archives, Abu Ghazaleh transported the students back in time, unraveling significant moments and events that have shaped Kuwait’s narrative. He offered students the opportunity to discover news and noteworthy occurrences that coincided with their birthdays, providing a personalized connection to Kuwait’s rich historical tapestry.

At the end of the visit, students played a fun game with content creator Zainab Dashti at Kuwait Times’ studio, while enlightening them about Kuwait Times’ endeavors to adapt to the rapidly evolving social media landscape. Dashti’s insights shed light on the newspaper’s efforts to leverage visual storytelling techniques and engage with audiences across digital platforms, underscoring the importance of agility and innovation in the ever-changing media landscape.
