- By Passant Hisham

Under the auspices of Faisal Saeed Al-Ghareeb, Minister of Justice, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Chairman of the Public Authority for Minors Affairs, the authority organized its annual celebration of national holidays under the slogan “National Minors Festival” on Wednesday. Ghareeb stressed on the importance of celebrating the anniversaries of national and liberation of Kuwait, as it serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the people of Kuwait to obtain their country’s freedom and independence and reclaim their land.

He pointed out the significance of developing recreational activities and events of the authority to enhance communication between the authority, its minors, those covered by care, and its employees, in addition to promoting the spirit of belonging and revival of national events. Ghareeb explained that such cherished occasions, which include the participation of the authority’s children, enhance their knowledge of Kuwaiti customs and traditions, ancestral professions and ancient traditional crafts, in addition to developing their creative skills and their ability to participate in activities and events.

The Acting Director General of the Authority Hamad Al-Barjas told Kuwait Times that over the years, the authority has been keen on organizing

a variety of events that benefit the children of the authority from different aspects, whether educational, cultural or social. “We are always eager to invest in such occasions to meet with the families of minors and exchange points of views related to their interests. This ensures they embark on an effective educational journey and emerge as productive role models for society,” he remarked.

Barjas added that the event featured many activities and various shows, including the participation of all age groups with the aim of reviving Kuwait’s heritage and customs, while enhancing its visual identity. The colors of the event were inspired by the state flag, resonating with the spirit of national heritage, he said.

Speaking to Kuwait Times, Tamader Al-Omar, head of the social and educational department at the authority, emphasized the authority’s ongoing commitment to involving its children in every significant occasion in Kuwait. This dedication is particularly crucial, because the authority views minors as one of society’s most essential groups, deserving of collective care and attention, she noted. Omar elaborated that holding such events is aligned with the authority’s primary objectives, which prioritize comprehensive support for these children, encompassing financial, social and recreational aspects.
