‘Young Ambassadors’ visit Kuwait Times and Kuwait News
KUWAIT: Kuwait Times and Kuwait News hosted a workshop on Thursday as part of the Young Ambassadors Program, aimed to guide students on effective engagement with the public and delivering their message to broader audiences. According to Environmental Specialist Samia Al-Duaij, the Young Ambassadors Program is a collaboration between the Canadian and British governments, with support from the United Nations.
The program is currently in its second year, and the focus of this year’s program is on environmental protection and responsibility, with the theme focusing on climate change and climate diplomacy. Selected students from both private and public schools have the opportunity to participate in workshops, group activities and educational trips that are meant to enhance their understanding and exploration of the program’s core ideas.
“We decided to bring the students to Kuwait Times based on a request from one of their peers, which we found is a valid suggestion that aligns with one of our targets. Students are here today to learn the role of the media and the importance of getting out of their bubble to speak to the public and reach wider audiences,” said Duaij.
During the visit to Kuwait Times, students were given a tour of the Kuwait Times building, introducing them to its multiple departments and each department’s role. This provided them with a chance to take a closer look at the realm of journalism as they interacted with the Kuwait Times team members, who answered their questions and welcomed their suggestions on news presentations. Additionally, the students had their photos taken in each department before being taken to the studio for a real-life experience in front of the camera.
Content Creator Dhoha Al-Issa led the students to the studio to engage them in answering a set of questions, which further enriched their experience. The students answered her questions with valuable insights and profound perspectives, which will be posted on Kuwait Times’ social media platforms.
