Al-Zour’s refining capacity reaches 530,000 bpd
Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC) announced the successful and safe completion of periodic maintenance operations for a group of manufacturing units at Al-Zour Refinery without any incident. The refining capacity of heavy oil has been raised to the maximum capacity to reach 530,000 barrels per day. This includes mixture of heavy oil and Kuwaiti export crude.
“This achievement came as a result of close cooperation between KIPIC and the global marketing sector in Kuwait Petroleum Corporation in consonance with the company’s commitment to achieving the strategy of the KPC,” KIPIC said in a release, noting that this is not just limited to reaching the maximum refining capacity but it demonstrates the refinery to overcome the challenges it faced in refining heavy oil. KIPIC praised the efforts of the team working in the company, which contributed significantly to this achievement, an accomplishment that is not limited to the company, its facilities and employees, but extends to the State of Kuwait as well.
“This strengthens its position in the oil industries at the global level and enhances the ability of Kuwait and the KPC to compete effectively in the global market and meet the growing demand for oil products around the world,” KIPIC said. The company said it is within the framework of ensuring the continuation of the refinery’s performance according to the highest operational standards and after continuing to operate at the maximum capacity of heavy oil. KIPIC will coordinate with the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation regarding the conversion of Kuwaiti export crude oil with the maximum refining capacity of this oil which is 615,000 barrels per day, starting from the beginning of next week.
