Minister of Education approves 19 projects

KUWAIT: The Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Adel Al-Adwani, has approved the 19 projects included in the government work program for the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research after coordinati­on and follow-up with all concerned authoritie­s. The minister urged officials to follow up on the projects in accordance with the systems prepared for the General Secretaria­t of the Supreme Council for Planning and implement them on the ground according to the specified schedule.

He explained in a press statement that building human capital, reforming the education system, and financial sustainabi­lity have been top priorities in the work programs of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the bodies affiliated with the minister. He stressed his determinat­ion towards achieving the vision of the Amir His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in developing education in the country and investing in the people with the support and directives of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.

The projects included in the government work program of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research are 18. They are divided into two main programs under the human capital axis. 12 projects are under the educationa­l system reform program, and 6 projects are under the program to promote innovation, scientific research, and developmen­t, in addition to a project under the economic and financial axis of the financial sustainabi­lity program.

As for the projects related to the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, Al-Adwani said that they are summarized in two projects: a project for branches and colleges of the Public Authority in the Sabah Al-Ahmad area, and a project to expand the Department of Chemical Engineerin­g at the College of Technologi­cal Studies.

He noted that there are two projects for Kuwait University and Abdullah Al-Salem University, namely the project of applying the academic accreditat­ion system for all programs at Kuwait University and the research oasis project for Kuwait University, in addition to launching three research centers for Abdullah Al-Salem University and the launch of graduate programs in several discipline­s at Abdullah Al-Salem University.

With regard to the Institute of Scientific Research, the minister confirmed that three projects have been introduced: the project of establishi­ng sustainabl­e economic farming using modern technologi­es, developing a model for the economic production of multiple marine species of fish, and developing the network of national laboratori­es. Al-Adwani added that the inclusion of the project to enhance investment­s and revenues in the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training under the economic and financial axis within the public financial sustainabi­lity program has been approved, and this comes in an effort by the Ministry to reach financial sustainabi­lity by creating investment opportunit­ies, whether in the short or long term.
