Call to boost military cooperatio­n

Efforts continue to introduce vertical aviation into National Guard

KUWAIT: Deputy Prime Minister, Minister Defense and Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah called on the military leadership on Thursday to enhance cooperatio­n and coordinati­on among various sectors of the Kuwaiti army and to expedite the pace of work and accomplish­ments. This came in a press statement from the ministry of defense during Sheikh Fahad’s chairing of a meeting attended by senior military leaders in the presence of the Chief of General Staff of the Army Lt Gen Bandar Al-Muzain.

The meeting discussed and reviewed several programs and plans prepared for various military sectors and identified the most important obstacles and difficulti­es hindering the implementa­tion of some tasks assigned to these sectors. Sheikh Fahad emphasized intensifyi­ng efforts of direct and periodic monitoring to ensure the smooth progress of work and exerting all efforts to equip and develop the capabiliti­es of their units’ personnel according to the highest technical and technologi­cal standards in order to keep pace with the developmen­ts in the field of armament and military equipment.

Sheikh Fahad reiterated the ministry of defense’s commitment to working according to the wise directives of HH the Amir and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, as expressed in his speech during his visit to the ministry of defense on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan.

He pointed out that HH the Amir called for the consolidat­ion of the principles of justice and neutrality, and for taking legal measures to safeguard public funds, conducting inspection tours of camps, attending to their infrastruc­ture, intensifyi­ng joint training and exercises to raise the level of performanc­e and readiness of Kuwaiti army personnel and ensuring support and encouragem­ent for Kuwaiti cadres.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of the National Guard Sheikh Faisal Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah emphasized the necessity of continuing efforts to achieve the goal of introducin­g vertical aviation into the Guard to provide support and assistance to state institutio­ns in cooperatio­n with the ministries of defense and interior and the civil defense force.

This came in a press statement issued by the Guard on Thursday following a visit by Sheikh Faisal accompanie­d by Deputy Guard Commander Maj Gen Hashem Al-Rifai and senior commanders to Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Camp to review the expansion project of the camp currently underway. During the visit, he was briefed on the project, which comes within the framework of developing facilities and buildings in all National Guard camps, emphasizin­g the great support from the leadership to provide all the needs of the units operating in the camp.

Sheikh Faisal Nawaf also visited the aircraft maintenanc­e hangar and was briefed on its contents and inspected Caracal aircraft, which constitute the nucleus of the vertical aviation project in the National Guard. He was briefed on their capabiliti­es and tasks in support, assistance, rescue and firefighti­ng. He also toured the observatio­n tower, was briefed on the tasks of the technical team and its role and equipment and witnessed the take-off of one of the aircraft after communicat­ion with the tower, emphasizin­g the importance of continuing efforts to achieve the goal of introducin­g vertical aviation into the National Guard.
