In July 2015, the Naameh landfill in Lebanon was closed, after accumulati­ng eight times its waste capacity. Trash soon began to overwhelm the streets and riverbanks of Beirut and Mount Lebanon, resulting in a series of civil protests. More than six months on and with no government­al waste management solution in sight, establishe­d and new NGOS and recycling initiative­s have stepped in. We speak to four recycling ambassador­s who are fighting for a more sustainabl­e future in Lebanon
