RE­VIV­ING TYRE’S GOLDEN AGE OF CINEMA

Le­banese ac­tor and di­rec­tor Kassem Is­tan­bouli has kicked off works to ren­o­vate Tyre’s Rivoli Cinema, with aims to turn it into a cul­tural space for the city. The the­ater, which has been aban­doned for more than 30 years, was known for screen­ing high qual­ity films and was an icon in Tyre from 1959 to 1988. Is­tan­bouli plans to ac­com­mo­date 500 peo­ple af­ter restora­tion is com­plete.
