Lebanese fashion house Karoline Lang has been grabbing headlines with its sleek, minimalist look and clean-cut lines. Karine Tawil, the founder, explains the essence of the brand.

HOW DID YOU START KAROLINE LANG?

After completing my degree in business administration at AUB, I moved to Milan to pursue my passion, where I completed my Master’s in fashion marketing.

It wasn’t long after completing an internship in product development at the Italian luxury fashion house Marni that I enrolled in a degree program in design and management at L’institut Francais de la Mode, and I began working with many designers in Paris and New York. I eventually decided to move back to Lebanon in 2010 and launch my own collection.

WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A KAROLINE LANG CREATION?

The combination of cutting techniques, the quality of the finishing and the creative blend of luxurious fabrics and textures makes the brand unique.

The pieces are created to accentuate a woman’s inner beauty, highlighting the silhouette, with bold architectural lines, fabric manipulation and a mixture of materials.

The garments that I create are free from ornamentation. The form always follows the function. My main responsibility is to magnify, enhance and respect the shape of the woman. My aim is to create elegant and timeless pieces.

WHAT INSPIRES YOUR DESIGNS?

The woman; it always starts and ends with the woman. I am passionate about creating beautiful pieces and materials that are delicately crafted. That’s what I love most about my work.

YOU’RE ALREADY SUCCESSFUL IN PARIS AND ELSEWHERE. HOW DO YOU PLAN TO EXPAND YOUR BRAND IN LEBANON?

Our main showroom is still in Beirut and so are our workshops. The brand was born in Beirut and is still loyal to its Lebanese clients.

We chose the classical Karoline Lang look for this magnificent occasion. The idea was to show an effortless elegance that has an antique feel and a modern look. Those are the values that depict the Karoline Lang brand.

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FOR THE COMING WINTER COLLECTION?

The winter collection is extremely special for me as it has a personal touch very dear to my heart. We will be revealing the campaign soon so stay tuned!
