HERMES
CAPE COD
From the birth of the chaîne d’ancre (“Anchor Chain”) case in 1991, reimagined by artistic director Henri d’Origny in combining both a square-shaped watch (at the request of former Chairman Jean-Louis Dumas), and his preferred rectangular one; to the adaptation of the “Double Tour” strap in 1997, by the then artistic director for the Hermes womenswear collection, Martin Margiela; to the introduction of the timepiece for the men via the Cape Cod Grandes Heures in 2009… the timepiece, named after the beloved coastal destination in Massachusetts, has come a long way in reaching its immaculate form today. The “square embedded in a rectangle” timepiece reaches a new milestone in the form of a rhodium-plated and mirror-polished dial. Coated with a precious blue-tinted translucent lacquer, it highlights the grey transferred Arabic numerals in an anthracite frame, and the rhodium-plated hands, complementing the equally radiant interchangeable single or double tour Milanese mesh bracelet in 316L.
