Stemmed from the brilliant mind of multi-award winning architect and designer Marc Berthier, (also known for designing the all-over silicon rubber Radio Tykho for Lexon), his 2010 creation for Hermes was a modern aesthetic designed for instant legibility. The timepiece aptly named after its shape in the French language, now carries its distinctiveness in a larger sized case of polished and microbead-blasted 316L steel (from a 36.5mm x 36.5mm square case, to a 38mm x 38mm). Held within the measurement is a perfectly balanced use of light that accentuates the clarity of the design harmoniously: upon the dark grey dial of a right-angled opaline guilloché centre, is a white transferred minute circle and a finely grained chapter ring, showcasing the exclusive font of the Arabic numerals by making use of the zero, and the outstanding yellow seconds hand ‒ all coated with Super-LumiNova for legibility in the dark.
