ZENITH
PILOT TYPE 20 EXTRA SPECIAL
When French aviation engineer and pilot Louis Blériot took flight across the English Channel in 1909 ‒ a historical first in aviation, upon his wrist was a Zenith timepiece. Close to 100 years later, Zenith reiterates the historical moment with a timepiece that embodies all the attributes inherited from aviation’s pioneering days, complemented by a motif inspired by the fuselage of the legendary French pilot’s aircraft. Hailing from an all-conquering lineage, the Pilot Type 20 Extra Special features a more democratic 21st century dimension while housing the same original attributes: a solid bronze caseback that depicts the plane flown by Blériot, large luminescent Arabic numerals of an aeronautically inspired font and finely crafted hands composed of white Super-LumiNova blocks, and a dial with neo-retro bronze and black matte finish, complementing the oily nubuck straps in khaki green with protective rubber lining for optimum comfort and a titanium pin buckle.
