Montblanc unveils their Patron of Art and Homage collection for the year
A tribute to the historical and cultural legacy of a Great Aztec Ruler
FOR THE PAST 28 YEARS, Montblanc has actively engaged in the promotion of arts and culture. Beginning in 1992 part of this engagement has been to recognize the exceptional contributions of modern-day patrons around the world. Coinciding with Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award, a limited-edition writing instrument is crafted to pay tribute to the cultural legacy and patronage of a historical figure. Made in partnership with the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia in Mexico, this year the Montblanc Artisan Atelier celebrates the life and influence of Moctezuma I (c. 1398-1469).
The Limited Edition collection honours the remarkable artistic and architectural achievements of Aztec culture and the influence of one of its great leaders, illustrating the story of the cultural achievements of Moctezuma Ilhuicamina, who was elected ruler of the great Aztec Empire in 1440 and reigned for nearly 30 years during its golden age. The four limited edition instruments include the Montblanc Patron of Art Homage to Moctezuma I Limited Edition 4810, Montblanc Patron of Art Homage to Moctezuma I Limited Edition 888, Montblanc Patron of Art Homage to The Moctezuma I Limited Edition 87 and the rarest of the bunch, the Montblanc Patron of Art Homage to The Moctezuma I Limited Edition 8. Accompanying these instruments is a fine stationery notebook in red calfskin Saffiano leather embossed with traditional Aztec motifs.
