FENDI IS A master of playing with codes, as seen in its Pre-Fall Leisurewear Collection. What comes to mind upon viewing this collection is the instantly catchy line from the song Black and Yellow by Wiz Khalifa just based on the eye-catching and distinct colour selections. It is interesting how the song has cemented an association with the colours of a bumblebee and is still relevent a decade later.

The leisurewear plays on the maison’s recurring codes, for instance, the stark pairing between jet black and optic white contrasted with the Fendi Yellow. For variation, check out the second code within the all-over geometric camouflage print, which utilises the Bag Bugs Eyes print in an overlapping pattern. Further evidence of the use of codes can be seen by the number 25 on the basketball vest, symbolic to 1925, the year that marks the begining of the brand.

Aesthetics aside, functionality plays also an important role throughout the collection. Designed with the world of sports in mind, fabrication was key to deliver high performance and comfort with waterproof and thermal fabrics such as a satin effect-nylon, lycra and jersey. Silhouettes are oversized and comfy with baggy pants, broad vests and sweatshirts for the basketball-inspired apparel whilst figurehugging for the running front. Other functional detailings like multi-pockets, earphone and straw loops ensure all the necessairy are close to the body while training.

Fendi completes the look with the high top sneakers, Roma, suited for basketball and detailed with the signature perforated

FF, puffy shoe tongue with the printed logo and technical straw around the ankle to emphasize its street attitude. Even the skateboard or more precisely an innovative surf skate with the iconic FF logo is the must have accessory that simulates the movements of the surf on the road.
