THE ITALIAN JOB
TGucci collaborates with Lapo Elkann on a sophisticated made-to-measure collection and brings its expert artistry to our shores this month.
here used to be a time when Gucci reserved certain colour combinations of its iconic web stripe for specific families. Now, the Italian fashion house is bringing back that level of customisation and detail on its exclusive collaboration with Fiat heir and style icon, Lapo Elkann. The collection, Lapo’s Wardrobe, is a highly edited made-to-measure capsule aimed at the distinguished gentleman who wishes to choose every single detail of his well-made, head-to-toe wardrobe from silhouettes and textiles to colours, prints, linings, and accessories.
The two main silhouettes of this capsule collection include the universally flattering single-breasted suit with rounded shoulders and the double-breasted dou pieces with details inspired by Gucci’s iconic equestr equestrian heritage. With these two shapes and over 80 selections of luxurious luxuriou fabrics like tartan wool, cashme cashmere corduroy, wool mohair, and a velvet, customers can choose c from almost a thousa thousand possible combinations wh when it comes to their suits. A label with the customer’s custom name along w with the suit’s date of creation and city of origin will be sew sewn onto the garment garment, making it truly one of a kind. A And because the insi inside counts as much as the outside, line your suit with neverbefore-reproduced printed silks from the Gucci archives.
All-inclusive, the capsule also offers shirts and knitwear with embroidered initials as well as accessories to complete the look. Briefcases, suitcases, duffle bags, and belts all may be personalised with initials, but the highlight of the accessories collection is the shoes. Loafers and slippers in the most exquisite materials will make a statement finish to a distinctly individual wardrobe.
Because it has always been said that the shoes maketh the man, this month Gucci flies in its highly skilled shoe craftsmen from Florence to set up an artisan corner in its Suria KLCC boutique, allowing customers a first-hand view at the superb craftsmanship that goes into the classic 1953 horsebit loafer.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the beloved shoe, the house has been sending these craftsmen all over the world to demonstrate the meticulous attention to detail that makes each iconic pair. For a taste of the bespoke experience, the artisans will personalise shoes purchased during the event with a limited-edition metal plaque to record the location and date. The Lapo’s Wardrobe capsule collection is available le at the men’s men s flagship store in Brera, Milan. The 1953 Loafer Artisan Corner runs from October 3 to 6 at Gucci, G37, Suria KLCC.
