The designer on the first bag she ever made, board games, and sneak peeks for the next season. By Cai Mei Khoo.
Why is the Bespoke collection so important to you? I wanted to create pieces for our customers to treasure for a lifetime, an antithesis of throwaway trends. So we created a new collection that can be embossed with handwritten messages, drawings, and monograms, pieces that are about having your name on them rather than mine. Own any bespoke pieces yourself? I have a few with messages from my husband and kids. My iPad case has a handwritten

message from my husband, saying, “There are three of us in this marriage; You, me, and that bloody iPad.” And your daily bag? An Albion and a Featherweight Ebury (from our new Cruise collection), inside of which I have a Georgiana clutch in black, for after-work events. In my bag, you will find my iPad, iPhone, keys, Leica camera, pencils for sketching, and swatches of leather. Your sources of inspiration? A thousand things and people inspire me: my mother’s style, architecture, travel, and chocolate. Who is your design muse? I design with myself in mind. Women play many different roles in today’s world; We work, travel, have families, and still like to enjoy ourselves. The highlight of your career? When I received my MBE from the Queen. The secret to your success? Knowing that the journey is as important as the destination and being passionate about what I do. Anya Hindmarch is celebrating its 10th Anniversary in Malaysia.
