Why Don’t You...? By Clara Goh

A true lover of classics, Fendi’s communications doyenne offers her ideas for a sweetly whimsical month.

… READ YOUR WAY THROUGH THE WORLD. Not always able to get away for a holiday, I shall be travelling through reading, starting first by re-reading my favourite A FortuneTeller Told Me by Tiziano Terzani, exploring parts of Asia I would hardly likely be able to visit, and then The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy and Do Not Pass Go by Tim Moore, a story of London told through the famous streets and stations of the Monopoly board. … GO BACK IN TIME. Microwave some buttery popcorn and choose a classic film to indulge in every Sunday. I’m watching The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (Dame Maggie Smith’s Academy Award-winning performance), Blake Edward’s The Great Race with Tony Curtis and Natalie Wood, Bonnie and Clyde with Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty, and The Happiest Millionaire with Tommy Steele. … DARE TO INVEST. Not only in the perfect Fendi Peekaboo bag but also in developing a new skill. For me, it is learning to surf and speak Italian. Or, finally daring to dream about and plan for that Manhattan apartment. … LAUGH. Fill this penultimate month with mirth and merry, and watch the simple everyday moments turn into occasions to remember. … WEAR ROSE-TINTED GLASSES. Taking a cue from my favourite idiom, I shall choose to see only the brighter side of everyday situations. Dare I test this during traffic jams? … SHOP YOUR WARDROBE. Our closets are fashion treasure troves, filled with much-loved apparel, impulse purchases, clothes for our “thinner and taller” selves, and more. Embark on refreshing and “upcycling” as well as fusing old favourites to make a new unique piece. … PLAN CHRISTMAS. Revel in the joy and goodwill of the season. It’s my favourite time of year, when I “take stock” and celebrate family and friends. Every November, I try to finalise gift lists. No last minute shopping for me!
