IF YOUR MOTHER HAS ... BY DR. MICHAEL PRAGER
A WIDE FOREHEAD ... watch for a receding hairline and falling brows – these will make your forehead seem larger. Standard Botox treatments will only make it more prominent, dropping the brows further and making skin smooth and shiny. An eyebrow raise and treatment for frown lines is best. The temple and cheekbones may need filler
to prevent the area looking bony.
PROMINENT EYES ... filler in the cheeks will perform miracles. The eyes seem to become larger as the bone around the orbital rim ( and generally around the face)
naturally deteriorates with age.
SHARP CHEEKBONES ... you may have to choose between your body and your face in your thirties. This is because being overly thin or losing weight suddenly will make increased definition in this area look prematurely aged. Gentle cheek
plumping will go a long way.
A PLUMP FACE ... watch out for even the smallest signs of jowls. Once your face begins to slide you might want to seek help. Action can be taken with Botox to
the jawline to prevent downward pulling.
A WEAK JAWLINE ... keep your weight down, as even a little extra
will make your jaw disappear. Botox can define the area, and dermal fillers can work miracles. An orthodontist may also be able
to improve the jawline in some cases.
A SEVERE CHIN ... you may need dermal fillers to the cheeks and the lips to make your chin look smaller and the face rounder. But a big chin can be a blessing later in
life as it usually accompanies a good jawline. love your lines to appreciating your unique features – yours and your mother’s.” That said, Brown is author of youth-bestowing sleights of hand. To lift drooping lids, she recommends defined eye make-up. “Use a dark liner like mahogany or black along the upper lash line, thick enough to be visible when the eyes are open, extending the brush slightly at the outer corner of the eye. Don’t apply liner just along the bottom lashes, as this draws eyes downward. Gel formulas are most precise. Light eyeshadow colours lift; lighten the under-eye area and draw attention back up with a pink or peach corrector paired with a skin-toneappropriate concealer.”
To counteract sallowness, there are bronzers, blushers, and Brown’s new Retouching Powders. “White brightens alabaster to light tones; pink counteracts sallowness in alabaster to medium hues; yellow reduces redness in extra-light to medium complexions; peach warms up light skin and evens out tanned and medium to dark shades; rose lends deep tones a flush of colour; and brown warms up dark and rich skins.” She advocates layering skincare formulas to lend a cushiony look, using your fingers to blend. A pale, high-shine lipgloss will add lustre atop lipstick and pencil.
In the final instance, one must remember that ageing like one’s mother is at least preferable to the baldness and expanding ears that wwwould would b be ageing like one’s father;
soome some con consolation, at least.
