BAZAAR takes a trip of art around the world, and discovers what really makes a Bond girl.
Fiery hues and bright sparkle come to life in an artist’s new show.
Playing her role in Malaysia’s burgeoning contemporary art scene, Azliza Ayob has exhibited her work in Japan, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Known for her genius in collage (her main aim is to give new meaning to existing popular images), she believes collage art involves a well thought-out plan and process to produce striking visuals and effective, meaningful narratives. Continuously inspired by the simplicity of life, Azliza enjoys being able to reach out to others with her work. Her belief is that art is truly a way of life, not solely subject to the creation of artwork,
but perhaps equally important is recognising its presence in daily affairs.
Don’t miss Azliza’s first solo exhibition, ‘All That Glitters’, which literally reflects a life-long fascination with sparkle. Here, she brilliantly explores the concept behind the saying “all that glitters is not gold”, and reminds us how things that seem precious or true may not always be as they appear. From January 17 to February 12 at Wei-Ling Contemporary, G212, Ground Floor, The Gardens Mall. Tel: 03-2260 1106. www.weiling-gallery.com
