WHEN IN FRANCE ...
... EXPLORE THE MIND. Catch the art world’s new wunderkind. Korean artist, JeeYoung Lee creates magical, dream-like masterpieces in the form of sets that would send eccentric photographer Tim Walker’s mind racing. This month, JeeYoung Lee is set to open her first European exhibition aptly titled ‘Stage of Mind: Scènes d’Esprit’, giving us a closer look into the workings of her fascinating mind. In a minuscule studio measuring three by six metres, her surrealistic metamorphoses are realised within the confines of a physical space. With a personal blend of fantasy and lightness, Lee answers the age old mystery of “who am I?” in each different set she designs, which are artfully restrained by the inherent limits of the conventional photographic medium. “Each set represents a photographic elucidation of my concerns about my identity,” says Lee. Take it from us: this artist is definitely one to keep an eye on! From February 7 to March 7 at the Opiom Gallery, 11 Chemin du Village, Opio, France.
